Default Sabatoge?

Honda Civic EX, ran great, no issues whatsoever, took it to dealer auction, no sale, went to pick it up and it shakes at idle while driving, ce light is now on and blinking. Common practice some people will sabotage cars so they dont bring a good price. , any suggestions what could have possibly happened. This car ran great, we drove it 2 weeks prior to auction. Thanks.

Did you check to see if the plug wires are all on and tight? It's pretty easy to remove, or partially remove one so it will miss on one cylinder.

Wait. It's common practice but you took the car to an auction anyway? Craigslist/Ebay broken? Hell, even an old fashioned For Sale sign on the car? Start checking everything within quick access.

Flashing CEL is a sever misfire. Why would the auction mess with your car?? They want to sell the cars at the highest price they can, that is how they ,make their money. If a buyer was messing with it then I would not go back to that auction, buyers should not be able to get into the cars and mess around, look dont touch. Put the car on Craigslist, I sold my Del Sol in under 6 hours that way and got full asking price.

it's not the auction personnel, rather the patrons. this is on of the reasons most auctions wont let you touch/start the cars.

car runs fine prior - 150 people walk by and look at it - it's auction slot comes up - car runs terrible - and only a small group of people know exactly what the issue is - $$$

could just be a coincidence....trust me happens more times then not something may have just decided to "go out" on you at the time it spent at the auction. agree why would they(auctioneers) do harm to the car they want to get the most they can on the flip side if ppl are around it with the hood up you never know...

Park it in your front yard with a for sale sign in the window or park it along a street where everyone else is trying to sell a car. Craigslist is amazing for selling cars as Nealnano mentioned, when i bought my car off CL it was only on there for 30 mins and i never even thought i was going to buy a car that day.

Go over the car and check that all hoses and plugs are locked/connected. Car auctions here charge $129 if you wanna preview inventory prior to the auction. Ill never go to auctions. There all rigged like that by other buyers

Took it to my mechanic, they (someone at the auction) pulled one of the fuel injection plugs and set it on top so it looked like it was connected. Thanks for all of your help. We'll see if the auction offers to pay the bill but I sincerely doubt it.

OP, Where do you live? I can't seem to find any auctions here that are open to the public.

Well now that you figured out what they did to your car just drop it on CG, sell it and move on with life. Interesting way to mess a car up at the auction though

$160 to file in small claims court. $3000 maximum. No lawyers allowed. Jus sayin.

You have the only paperwork on this issue and, having worked around the auctions before, I can guarantee the auction is just gonna blow you off.
