Is the JRSC really that bad for B18c5
I have a 97 R and i want to throw in a JRSC. I want to do this over all motor and turbo mainly because it seems as if it is the easiest solution for making some hp while not having to maintain it every other day like a turbo..Everyone says it sucks and yet most who have it say they love it..To me, i don't see whats wrong with 225 whp at only 5.5 psi. Those who have one really don't have as much of a problem with heat and friction as everyone says.....Plus, i think it would work well with my Spoon 421, Carsound cat, and Toda flywheel...

my friend got one on hs R with juice and fully built motor and I ran faster than him with a few bolt ons and some juice.
he has spent about 30K more in his car and work and I still run faster. . . . imo , i would never go JRSC , doesnt seem to make the power.

The JRSC works just fine on a Type R, and it does make power all the time. Properly setup between 210-230whp is a good result. I've installed 30 JRSC kits and they are very functional, especially for first time FI guys. It's maintenence free with no danger of overboosting and no oiling concerns. The two biggest problems with Turbo-charging. It won't make the power that a turbo can, but not everyone has to have it. A good JRSC car does better at autoXing due to its ability to quickly and accurately modulate boost with throttle input and absolutely no lag. It is a solid choice for 50-70whp and lots of low end grunt.

My friend had one on his type r, but he sold it because it only brought him down from a 14.7 to a 14.5...and it was dyno tuned. Now hes going all motor with a jun stage 3 package. I would go all motor or turbo before going with a jrsc.
Yah I would go the all motor route before I went with a JRSC. Just go turbo man you would be a lot cooler. BTW that isnt your car in your avatar is it? It looks alot like my friend Andy's car that was in SCC.

I would **** my pants if you made 230 @ 5.5 psi, the fact is you wont, expext about 190-210 from what I have seen and prepare to get owned by allmotor cars with the same power.....

You will spend just as much money on a SC type R, than a turbo Type R. (this being mildly modified) no internal engine work.
I sold my charger for a turbo.
I was somewhat stock.
Mods, JRSC, JR intake, JR Map Controller, JR BTC,vafc ANd many many hours on the dyno and never hitting 200WHP.
A GSR on the other hand will definetly hit over 210 stock with just a charger.
I always heard it was the C5's ecu. I do not have dyno charts anymore, but

2. 170 timing problems

There's a guy on Hostboard(Rboosted717,I think), who makes 260hp on 8-9psi. He has a obd1 GSR(p72)ecu and EFI PMS. He also runs 12.60's in 1/4mi @110mph. I have a GSR and I made 227 @6psi and now I'm at 10psi and probably got about 260ish. As far as the R's go you gotta know what your doing when it comes to tuning them. I would take the Type R ecu and throw it as far from the car as you can throw and put in the p72. You'll make WAAAY more power that way. It's a waste of time tuning it with the Type R ecu. THey run REALLY rich up top and they don't like mods too much. Good luck

WOW good for you, but that still doesent change the fact that a turbo car at that same amount of work would be over 300 whp...............
People always knock the jackson's. A properly tuned Jackson will run excellent, so what if it doesnt make 300hp at the wheels, that is peak regardless. The flat torque curve is unbeatable and the amount of rpm's over 200hp is nice as well. JRSC powerband is completley different, I wouldnt say any setup is better over the other, it is whatever you want to do. The JRSC is in no way shape or form a waste, Im looking for high 12's on slicks this spring after some fall Hondata tuning.

Talk to that Rboosted guy as well as newt2 on this board. Those are two of the JRSC'd R on the board that will give you good 1st had opinions on it and info.

Is anyone running a JRSC on a 2 liter b-series? I'm thinking about resleeving to 84mm.
