Default locking vtec with air hose how much pressure to use?

I bought a fitting and tried to use the air to lock the vtec rocker in but all I got is a whole bunch of oil myst spitting allover my engine bay. and no vtec locking.
**** splatter everywhere.

I tried 40 psi at first and then 50 and gave up right after that

I am not sure why you need to lock it in, installed as it were. If you were say, checking cam timing/ profiles; you would need a degree wheel and the motor removed with dial micrometers on the valve heads. Only a pro could do this in the car, but would have done it before.
Locking the vtec with a ball bearing is best but requires rockershafts to be removed to accomplish it. Or, you could remove the vtec soleinoid, and shoot air in that way to the rockershafts wich direct the oil to the spring cups inside the outter rockers to lock vtec.

Just use 12 volts at the connector to engage it while it's running, no matter the oil pressure, it will engage.

engine is in the car I really don't want to take apart the cams.

that's what I did. at 50 psi it just shot the air out with whole bunch of oil splatter and didn't lock anything.

nvm I think the cams were setup where then best are already.

I did a test drive with few cam settings and the initial +2 +2 setting was best
