McGard seat locks
I remember someone setting up a group buy for McGard seat locks either in the ITR forum or ITRCA a long time ago...and if my memory serves me right it was only available on special orders and for multiple sets, hence the need for a group buy back then.
Are these seat locks available anywhere nowadays or still on special orders/group buys? or is there a kit for another application that would fit with car seats?
If someone would point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate.
(I did a search and only came out with an old thread from 2005 that was about useless and wasn't able to find the other one I was refering to)
Thanks!

Yes, I want to replace the regular bolts that hold the seats to the floor with some kind of lock nuts bolts, so they don't get stolen if someone breaks into your car or at least make it more time consuming...
I don't really care what brand, as long as it fits correctly.

I personally made an appointment and visited McGard at their headquarters in Orchard Park, NY. Sat down with someone and they gave me all the info. They were bought out by a guy in California IIRC for the seat locks that was a member on the S2K forums. He did so, so that they would only be available to S2000 owners and you had to send him your VIN and a few specific pictures to prove ownership before he'd sell you them. I actually ran across the paper McGard gave me with the information last week while cleaning my room. They also informed me that they couldn't personally sell me lug nuts cheaper than I could buy them from JEGS or Summit lmao.

I've been looking for these too as I had a set of similar security bolts on a car of mine with recaros years back(and it saved them). So the upshot is, unless you personally own an S2000 and have to bow down and prove this you can't get them? On top of that McGard won't sell them to you and it seems this goes for non US folks too. Eh WTF? and GTFO. That's beyond daft. If that company won't play ball(and lose money), surely there has got to be alternatives?
What are the sizes, length, thread count, that sort of thing on our Teggys? I'll do some digging on this side of the Atlantic to see if there are alternatives and pass on the info if there are. This kinda crap really boils my **** so I'll do what I can.

I've been diggin' like crazy in the last few days before creating this thread and the closest I've found so far is what's in here:
http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/9113...native-review/
...and I've found some similar stuff elsewhere regarding alternatives.
The thing is these other bolts are not made to secure seats, but wheel caps and there is some talk about them breaking while installing or upon impact...while fit and theft prevention is nice, I'm not ready to compromise on safety.
I did contact McGard too...no reply.

Nice find SR. They look like a good and very reasonably priced alternative(which is always nice). I too share your safety concerns, though that said if you're only using them on two outa the four bolts and your safety belt is attached to the chassis maybe the safety aspect is less of an issue?
I reckon we keep on digging. I can't, nor want to believe this "exclusive" McGard crowd are the only option.

just wanna bring a lil' precision concerning my previous post...
I didn't read anything about McGard (wheel cap bolts) crowns breaking, only Gorilla brand...up to what point is this relevant to us, so I'm not sure what to think about that route.
Both McGard wheel cap bolts and the ones made on special order are Stainless Steel, but there are better grades than others and we don't know for sure how they compare to regular OEM seat bolts.
Regular seat bolts are of higher quality from what I've been able to find out, same material quality or better for the ones on special order so no safety issues here.
Regarding the safety concern, my thoughts are the following...if the replacements are, say 50% less resistant and you replace 2 outta 4, you lose 25% rigidity which IMO is alot when your life is potentialy at risk...that 25% you might be missing will put additionnal stress on the other ones, which in turn might put them over their overall breaking point and you risk snapping all 4 in case of a medium to high impact.
Ok there is always the airbag but what if there are multiple impacts and the seat is already broken? now it's between the seatbelt, your pelvis and clavicular bones to stop the momentum from your own weight to which you must add the car seat's weight on top of that...when we know that in several cases, just your own weight might be just enough or even more than enough.
Knowing that I track my car and on some of the tracks I can reach speed of over 120mph or 200kph, you always hope that nothing's gonna happen, but as for myself it's an added risk I'm not willing to take in case anything happens.

Agreed on the safety aspect. The over torqued examples that broke in page two of that link would not fill anyone with confidence. Like you say, not worth the risk.
They are available for s2000 owners. You must provide proof of ownership through registration and I believe insurance paperwork if I remember correctly from when I bought mine. The reason for this is because s2000s are notorious for having just the seats stolen. A cut top + stolen seats is an instant salvage title as the car will be totaled due to the cost of the seats. They can not be purchased complete from the dealer. Each individual piece has to be ordered and then assembled.
No one is going to just steal the seats from an ITR. They're going to steal and strip the whole thing. If he opened up to other makes and models those shady people that own civics will just keep buying sets to get the keys and now your effective deterrent is useless.
And yes McGard will not sell them to anyone. The s2ki user bought the exclusive rights to sell those locks.
Here's the official thread on them http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/1771...e__hl__kodokan

well think again, it happened to me already, they stripped the interior since they were not able to leave with the car...the whole interior got stolen while at the dealer for some work under warranty
The ITR got totaled , so while I feel S2K owners pain and concerns, I just don't want that to happen again to me or any fellow ITR owner.
It's been 14 freakin' years since that happened and I still wake up at nite just to hate on those f@&?%! thieves!
...the same thing can happen with cars that have good security layers where they're not able to leave with the car but that doesn't prevent them from leaving with the whole interior. There has been several posts with similar stories in the last 12 years...
To my knowledge, you can't replace an ITR's center console with badge number just some blanks, ITR seats are at least as rare if not more, they steal our floormats, shift *****, steering wheels, radios, trims and clusters...that's more than just seats.
If at least we were able to prevent them from stealing just the seats, the cars wouldn't get totalled.
When totalled because of the seats, with salvaged engines, trannies, brakes and other stuff going into civics...
end result= 1 ITR less on the road that will never come back while when an S2K is totalled because of the seats, people who buy 'em back often don't part the cars but just put some new seats in and they're good to go.
If someone were to tell me we're not in the same boat or in a worse position, then I wonder what it is?
ITR owners hate thieves as much as S2K guy do for sure if not more and that's no secret...the threads are there to prove it since day 1 of H-T and ITRCA.
Around 2003 or 2004 maybe, there was a thread in the ITR forum regarding a group buy from McGard for that exact same purpose, so where did ITR and S2K owners lost their way? why can't we help each others??? When did ITR owners became lowlifes? did I miss something along the way?
I really do hope some S2K owners will read this thread and understand.
And I really wish more than anything that Kodokan answers my PM or comes across this post...I'd like to have a serious and constructive chat with him...it's obvious he's got only good intentions and the right frame of mind in order to protect the well being of our cars(or at least S2K's for the time being) and I truly salute that, but with wanting to save one child of the family from the desease at all costs, he's letting the other one die from that same desease...please tell me he's more intelligent than that...I'm sure he is.

Bloody great post from sr-71.
I can certainly confirm that on this side of the pond Type R's are targeted for two things; the engine and the seats. Don't forget BLacK FirE the Teg world doesn't begin and end in North America. The non US/Canadian versions got Recaro seats, which are highly desirable.
In these parts S2000 seats are common enough on ebay and will run you between 200-500(in dollars) a set,* the Teg Recaros on the other hand are much rarer and generally start around 500 quid for an OK pair and go upwards for a really good set. A near mint set in red or black will run well over a 1000 dollars. A set in yellow? Name your price(and pass the sickbag
) Try buying a set direct from Honda. I don't even know if you can anymore. Last time I looked they were something daft like 2,500 each. I'd be really surprised if you could still get USDM seats new from Honda.
Now sr -71 noted that "ITR seats are at least as rare if not more". I'd be more concrete about it Sr. The joke is OEM US/Canadian Integra Type R seats are going to be the rarest of all the seats we're discussing as they were only made specifically for those markets. How many USDM ITR's are left now? A couple of thousand, if that? How many with original interiors? By comparison S2000 seats are to coin a phrase two a penny.
Don't buy that?
Over 110,000 S2000's sold worldwide. http://world.honda.com/news/2009/4090127S2000/
24,000 odd ITR's worldwide. http://www.integratyper.org/specs/im...on-numbers.jpg
USDM ITR's? 3,823 http://www.integratyper.org/specs/usdm-type-r-sales.htm
Mark me well, this is NOT to denigrate S2000's, or their owners, or their security concerns. They're a bloody gorgeous car and deserve to be lauded and have all the security they need to keep the thieving scumbags away, but ITR owners also deserve the same opportunities to protect themselves and it really grates that an element of snobbery appears to have set in. Hopefully I'm mistaken on that score.

Likewise **** and sames goes for everyone who are contributing to this thread or even taking time to read and reflect on the situation even if someone has nothing new to bring to the table right now, talk about it people, keep this post alive, we never know what great solution/ending might come out of this collective thinking...I've seen scores of great things from the ITR community and H-t in general over the last 12 years and I'm confident that it will continue.
( On a side note: don't be trumped by the date you see under my alias,it's just been brought back to life after several years of not posting specificaly because I got sick and allergic of all these post with stolen R's almost every day which were slamming back in my face a tough reality that I had to deal with on a daily basis and I had to look away in order not to get sick and crazy about it...it was poisoning me and as many of us now too well it affect the fun factor accordingly, when I say I still wake up at nite to hate on thieves, it's not a joke.)
People are willing to spend thousands on wheels, mods and changing stuff for the fun of it...but what if your seats get stolen?car gets totalled and goodbye everything, track days, daily pleasure of driving a car like no other car brings, all that love and money you've invested for years on a car you truly love, gone' cause ITR owners are not just the usual owners, people who own them after all these years are passionnate about their cars ,what it means to own one ,what it's like to drive one and anything they might do with it. There are even some guys who take great pride in saving and restoring some R's and there's a good reason for that!
Why does everyone put some lock nuts on the wheels they love, even if OEM? It's a no brainer...but that won't get your car totalled if your wheels are stolen.
While having your seats stolen might get your car totalled, usually we do nothing...where's the logic??? If someone has time to steel your wheels, they do have time to steal your seats if they want them as it doesn't take any longer...and when you think about it,except for a few models, wheels are easily replaceable.
Long story short, get some freakin' seat locks! It's a non-sense risking to lose the car you love because you were trying to save 60$ on something nobody will see in favor of more bling.
When in life do you come across a 60$ life saver? It's called return on investment, years of investment, part of those owner's lives.
If one doesn't agree, sorry but you don't deserve to own an ITR or you need to take a step back and reflect on your blessings a lil better...still don't agree please sell it to someone who will know how to appreciate what they got, this car is not for you.
When every ITR owner here understands this(as I'm sure a great deal of us already do) and bring their grain of salt to this post, things will move, believe me!
