Hey,
This is probably a noob question but I just got a 99 civic ex and the transmission is all but gone and I want to make sure I get the right replacement.

So, the engine is a d16y8. I think I have currently a manual sohc 1600 vtec transmission and that is what I should replace it with right? Will other transmissions fit? I just want to make sure what I get will fit this engine and run correctly so if others will work that is fine.

Any help/understanding is appreciated.

Any d series tranny will bolt up to your d series,but the s40 tranny is the vtec tranny has slightly shorter gears than any other d series trans
