Gen 1 cr-v horn dead
Was honking at some not-very-good driver a few days ago - everything ok.
Then get home later that day, double click the lock, and hear no horn. WTF, but let it go.
Next day - same thing. I tried the horn from inside - dead. I've never heard of stock horns dying in any cars before - have someone else had the same issue with their V?
I haven't looked at the fuse yet - that could definitely be an issue.
Also, I need to go back to the shop that installed my fogs - they spliced them into ignition and I'm afraid they could've touched some other wires (aholes).

Pretty common, actually, especially on cars that are about 10-years old and exposed to the elements. My '00 had one that was starting to go. I replaced both with a set of horns I'd had my eyes on for a while and took the old horns off -- not only were both very rusty, but the off-sounding one was filled with water, which dumped into my lap!
You can diagnose this fairly easily. Disconnect a horn, (either one will do), touch a voltmeter to the horn connector contacts, and have someone hit the horn button. If it's getting voltage, replace the horns. If it's not getting voltage, then check the horn relay (IIRC, it's in the driver's side kick panel). If that's still good, then yes, perhaps it's then time to blame the a-holes for mucking with something in the wiring somewhere...
and if youre too lazy/stupid to use a multimeter, you can just grab another horn off another honda that you know works, try that one out. a test light will also work.

I bought a pair of piaas - should be here in a couple of days.
Keep getting home when it's already dark so haven't had a chance to look for a fuse. This one is in the kick panel, you say? Not under the hood?
Also, never heard of horns dying - had a few older cars before. Thanks for the responses, all.

Great, thank you. Hopefully the new horns will come with good instructions and/or a new relay.
The lighter and inside lights still work. Yet to check the actual fuse though..

both of mine died at the same time. i metered both plugs and had ground and signal to them. bought new horns off of ebay and voila, i have horns again. good thing too because nobody could hear my finger when they cut me off.
My horn sounds like a retard person talking, and yes I know that's not a nice thing to say.

So you guys were right - the old horns were complete toast.
They quite literally fell apart as we took them out.

So I gots me some new ones ... not too loud, but enough to get people's attention:

Removed the stickers for a subtle look, used the stock brackets for mounting, and stock wiring:

Yaaay for functioning horns.
