I'm currently in the military stationed in Tokyo, Japan. While I was stationed here, I bought a 2001 CBR 600 F4I Rossi Rep. I'm about to move to Italy and was trying to take it with me. Everything I found online says my bike is Japanese Spec, or at least is was manufactured here in Japan. The 3 characters of the VIN number start with JH2, which i found to mean it was made in Japan.

Does anyone know if it is possible to take a Japanese Spec bike to Italy or Europe, and not have any problems registering it? Or does anyone know of how to find out what spec a bike really is? I didn't know if maybe it was a different country spec...even if it was made here in japan? Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

IIRC, your biggest issues with the bike would be bringing it into the states (emission regs, etc). I cannot see any real issues with the bike, outside possibly lighting requirements (a google search may yield better answers for licensing requirements). Enjoy Italy (someday, Parma baby)

 

I think the transfer to europe from japan is much easier, from what I remember, than it would be from japan to the USA... and even that transfer (to the USA) is not impossible.

I have to honda bikes that have vins starting with JH2.. They were both bought at US dealers... The only think I can see being different is laws applying to the lights. Some countries want the blinkers on at all times as running lights.. Emissions most likely won't be an issue. If it was something that was never sold in the country you are moving to I think it would be more of an issue.

Nice bike though man. That nastro azzurro bike was great. Too bad we can't buy real nsr500s!
