Ive recently swap a b20vtec in my friends car... And the vtec only engage one time after you start the engine and thats all. The guy had a sir with a chipped ecu and the vtec was always engaging. Yesterday we made the b20vtec and after putting back everything together we start the car and it ran perfectly.

When we made the road test the vtec kicked 3-4 times in a row. The pull after... Nothing. We realised that everytime we put the key off and restart the engine, the vtec was kicking one time and it stops after. There is no cel,we put a golden eagle conversion kit. The oil level is good, the oil pan is ok, no problem witch the vss,the vtec selenoid clicks,when it put a test light on the vtec pin at the ecu the light come on at the good rpm but the vtec will only engage the first time you put the key on.

pull of the vtec solenoid and check the gasket filter might be clogged..also check you oil level.....


i did my b20vtec convertion and my vtec stopped workin checked solenoid turned of it was clogged with arp bolt lube and some shavings cleaned it and never had a problem again

oil pressure was my biggest problem after my swap. I needed to update my oil pump and replace it. im not saying this is your problem but I would just check the oil and the pressure in the system

 

Problem is solved. I removed the vtec selenoid and the gasket filter was full of crap. I guess the vtec was kicking one time only everytime i start the engine because when i stop the engine there was no more oil pressure so the crap went back down the oil passages and when i restart the car the crap returned in the gasket filter.
