99 Civic Ex Coupe Front end vibration and warped front right rotor
I am trying to locate the cause of two issues going on with my 99 Civic Ex.
1. The front end starts to vibrate at speeds between 65 and 70 mph; vibration never starts at a set given speed (sometimes at 65 sometimes at 68 sometimes at 70.) The intensity of the vibration changes too - sometimes very mild and other times the vibration is strong enough that it shakes the steering wheel. Interestingly enough, the vibration ceases at around 80 to 85 (the few times I've taken it up to that speed.)
2. I also have a warped drivers side front brake rotor - I have swapped out the set twice with factory OEM rotors but eventually the rotor on the same side warps. I asked the dealer to look at this the last time it was in for service and the mechanic didn't notice anything out of the ordinary; I suspected it would be a sticky caliper; I still suspect it might. The mechanic at Honda was the oil changer...
I bought after market aluminum alloy rims along with a new set of tires recently (my old steel rims were rusted.) I have gone to get the rims balanced quite a few times; that isn't resolving the problem.
Is there a chance the two issues could be related or is this two separate issues - ideas on what else I can do before I surrender this to the dealer again?

Jack up the car and wiggle the wheel up and down and side to side to see if there is any play. Could be a bad bushing, tie rod end, or ball joint. For the brakes I would make sure your slides are properly lubed and make sure the pad isn't getting stuck by rust or getting held up. Do your pads on that side seem to wear faster?
