what's the point of using an oversized filter? Do you think that you'll benefit from it? I don't see what's wrong with OEM.

well obviously it keeps your oil cooler....and from what i understand....your supposed to get better oil pressure...cuz less restriction.....I just switched to one.....we'll see if there is a difference??

I've used one for about a year now. It holds a little more oil and supose to run cooler.

I did mine tonight with the mobil 1 ...
I had to take off the bracket that holds the intake manifold to get the filter to fit.....no biggie....its just an extra pound of metal that isn't really doing anything..

any concern for oil leaks with the higher pressure on a high mileage engine?

not 100% sure on this....
but I don't think it creates more pressure...you just loose less pressure with the oversized filter.....therefore less oil starvation??

I tend to agree with you on that, because didn't people use smaller rsx oil filters to raise the oil pressure, so bigger would make less pressure. Sounds reasonable...

that doesn't make sense....with a smaller filter wouldn't it be more restrictive...so you would lose some oil pressure....with the oversized filter you don't make more oil pressure....just that its less restrictive so you don't lose as much pressure ( so i guess in a way it does increase oil pressure)

am I right??

You're not necessarily looking for more oil pressure when you shop for an oil filter. mainly it's how well the filter element cleans out the oil and how well the oil flows through it. obviously, a bigger filter will have less restriction because there's more surface area for the oil to go through.. i don't really see any advantage to upping the oil pressure, unless someone could explain this to me..?
