Will an '88 - '91 D-series cable LSD fit '92 - '00 D-series hydro trans?
i have just aquired a CRX Si trans with a quaife diff installed into it...i also am currently driving an EJ1 civic with an S40 trans on my Z6...my question is...would i be able to take the quaife out of the crx trans and install it into my S40 trans and if so what else would have to be done to it...shims/bearing wise...?

If it is a B000 S40 then yes. Look next to the fill plug for the casting code. It will be A000 or B000. Make sure you change the ring gear. You'll need to check the diff shim clearance.
Thank you very much...clears up alot before i go and take my trans off and i cant use it...ill check to see whic casting code is on it...
sorry but change the ring gear...meaning a NEW S40 ONE...or take the ring gear from the CRX trans...sorry for noobish question...just wanna cover all my bases...
Ring gears and countershafts are matched sets and need to stay together due to wear patterns. Remove the L3 ring gear and use the S40 ring gear when you put the LSD in the S40 trans.
thanks alot for your help...i just checked the trans and unfortunatly its a PL3/9000...
so i guess it wont work on my S40 trans...what a bummer
