Is there a way to identify if an axle is oem or not? Like certain engraving or marking on it? To be specific, axles for EM1.

oem axles will have a rubber dampening ring in the middle. I don't think I've seen an aftermarket one with it yet. if you look at the boots they will also have part numbers on them.

 

exactly right. one thing to keep in mind though is that dampening rubber ring sometimes get dry rotted and come off so gotta be careful not to misteak it as oem or aftermarket rebuild.



Ya know back in the day when you bought a rebuilt cv axle you could be 99% positive it was a oem honda axle that had been rebuilt but nowadays all i see in the reman boxes are chinese new axles that have been rebuilt. Very hard to find oem honda axles that have been rebuilt

 

Meh, I tossed my OEM EM1 axle in the trash after replacing it. There wasn't a core charge for it.

 

i have bought quite a few autozone axles that came with the rubber dampening ring.
