Default Gears too far to the left?!

I noticed while I was driving today that my gears felt like they were over too far and eventually I couldn't even get into first because it was over too far to the left and 5/R were where 3/4 should be! What in the world is wrong and how can I fix it?

check that the shift linkages and shifter are snug and do not have excessive "play"

I guarantee your shift linkage has some bad play in it. Check the bushings, spring pin, and where the shifter connects to the lower rod.
