hey guys i have a 92 eg with d16z6 engine.recently its been making a knocking noise from the engine n i havent drove it since.its even louder when im on the freeway/highway.it kind of reminded me of my first blown engine that was making the same noise directly before it was blown...so anyone has a suggestion what it can be and how to solve it before its too late?it sound like its coming from the bottom block or the side side as the water pump.

 

Pinpoint the source of the noise. Head? Block?

 

If it's already making a knocking noise, it's already too late. When was your last oil change? Do it, check for metal flakes in the oil. Drop your oil pan and check your mains.

its been awhile cuz my oil light didnt light up n i recently jst added oil.what do you also mean by the mains?

 

He means the main caps that hold your crank up. You should pull your spark plugs and see what they look like, see if there any metal flakes on them. Also if you don't have a magnetic drain plug then find a magnet and move it around in the oil you just drained, especially around the bottom.

 

Actually, I meant the main bearings, not the main caps.

Time out, you judge when it's time to get an oil changed based on when the LIGHT comes on? Sell the car and get a bus pass.

 

Yea I was gunna say bearings but went with caps lol sorry. And yeaaaa I was wondering about the whole light issue......that's almost as bad as those who run their engine till it ceases-oblivious to the fact that oil changes are required.

 

My step sister didn't realize you had to change the oil in a car, ended up driving her D15B7 coupe until the engine quite literally caught on fire on the highway.

The oil light is quite literally a dummy light. It only turns on when the oil is gone. It also turns on when you're a dummy because you didn't check your oil level like a good car owner should, regardless of what car you have.

OP, please tell me you didn't actually think that was a "time to change your oil" light.
