Ball joints spin with nuts - how to tighten? How to bleed cooling system?
Hey everybody.
So, I finished that clutch job. It all went fine except the Napa brand clutch had the holes drilled wrong and I had to get a NKK clutch instead. This is not a performance car at all.
Anyway, It's all put back together, except when I try to tighten the nuts on the lower ball joints, the studs just spin with the nut. How do you get around this? I tried jacking up a few different parts of the suspension and hammering at it, but neither helped.
Second - I had to drain the coolant, and when I refilled it, we filled, started the car and ran it for about 25 minutes. The cooling fan never came on, and the level never really dropped. The upper rad hose was HOT like it should be, and the lower was slightly less hot. The heater core was open, and I bled using the bleed port before running the car.
I'll do a search in the morning for more info.
Cheers

I think I remember people saying they jacked up the balljoint stud to keep it from moving.
Is the car overheating ? It sounds normal so far. The lower hose won't get hot until the coolant gets hot enough to open the thermostat which is at the back of the lower radiator hose.

Place jack under FLCA, raise control arm and snug it up to the LBJ so it does not spin, tighten nut to 40lbft.

Could be the T-stat is stuck open. What does the temp gauge show?
