how much would getting AC in my em1? i bought it with no ac, everything was taken out, everything!
i got an estimate from a shop that it would cost almost $2000 and it just seems like alot
and where can i get an ac unit?

Why do you want A/C back? It is pointless now that it has been deleted and you don't have the original parts for it. Even a full used system is gonna run you a good amount of money. $2000 sounds about right with all parts and labor. New compressor, condenser, evaporator, receiver drier or accumulator, low and high pressure lines, not gonna be cheap. I say forget about it, waste of money.

its hot out here in southern california, i plan on keeping my car, its kind of a necessity

 

well if you are mechanically inclined to do it yourself then go junkyard or cl and get a used system.

 

I had the same issue with my Si when I first bought it. I just held out till someone on a forum removed theirs. I got the whole system for $200. You can use a EX system too but would still need a b series compressor or a del sol bracket with the d-series compressor. I work at a shop so I was able to do all the labor and charge it myself. Keep in mind, regardless of where it comes from, you'd need to buy a NEW receiver dryer. The desiccant inside absorbs moisture from the air once its exposed. It would probably work but not very efficiently.

 

Got a whole system for $75, and removed it all and reinstalled it myself. Far cry from $2000, lol. But I got mine for a very good price. Expect to pay about $150 for the junkyard parts, plus another $50-70 for new replacement parts. Remember that on most Civics of this vintage, the A/C was added at the dealer as an option package so what goes in, must come out (with a moderate amount of effort).

There are a few threads on this topic. Your best friend is going to be the installation accessory instructions which will guide your hand at what exactly to take out. Don't be dissuaded by naysayers. These cars are like LEGO.

Also, it is doubtful that the P.O. removed the A/C compressor bracket since this also functions as an engine mount so you should be OK there.
