Hey everyone I have a real quick question. I'm needing to get an exhaust system for my b16 sol and I'm sick of the loud muffler that the previous owner had installed. I found out that yonaka doesn't offer a exhaust system for my car nor do they sell just the muffler. Anyways I decided to go with my second choice the WS2 muffler. My question is, Is there a difference b/w the turbo version and the NA version of the muffler. I do plan on boosting my car but not until the beginning of the year. Also I was wondering if there is a Yonaka catback that is reasonably close to fitting my car since the Yonaka catback is the same price as the WS2 muffler alone. Thanks in advance.

 

I don't know. Did you check the specs on both? That's where I'd start.

 

IIRC the n/a version is like 2.35" inlet and the turbo is almost 3" inlet... either muffler would work and would sound great.

only thing is if your current exhaust pipe is "2.5"(2.36) then the 3'' will need an adapter to make it fit not a big deal tho 5$ piece.

 

Yeah, would it be a good idea to have the exhaust shop to run new piping? I have no clue when this exhaust was put on since there wasn't a receipt for it. I have receipts for everything else though =]

 

all aftermarket exhaust system is loud in my opinion, it will only go quiet when you slap a turbo kit on and then become loud as heck when boost and vtec kick in together.

you could upgrade to a 3'' system now if you wanted but i'd just do the adapter for now.

 

 

I partially agree, I got the Yonaka system for my car (I could have afforded a "better" system) simply because people said it has a mellow deep tone. Call me old or whatever, but even the Yonaka is too loud for me, part of that is due to the test pipe I'm running of course, but fitting a cat to test didn't make enough difference.

I've got a B18C1 in my EG, so I'm switching to full stock GSR exhaust. Not the best for power, but it should be great for my long commute and my sanity.

 

^So theres been mixed reviews about the yonaka. Im pretty positive that anyone that has a complaint about the yonaka regarding how loud it is or that it was raspy, I think they got the ones that came with a smaller resonator. When grumblemarc got his he posted the pic and I noticed that the resonator looked just like the ones on $100 ebay catbacks which have little to no packing in them. Mine came with a pretty nice size resonator that looks similar to the vibrant ultra quiet. I have no cat, its quiet thru town and have barely any droan on the frwy (b16 trans 4k rpms). With the radio at an avg volume, it covers up the exhaust completely. Don't understand why they would use different resonators in different kits that are suppose to be the same catback...

 

I like it. My wife likes it. If you have no tolerance for noise in any form, then stick to stock exhaust systems.

BTW, the smallish resonator was from the B-pipe of the DX system, which was incorrect for my application. I have since installed the B-pipe with beefier, squared off resonator from the EX system. Makes all the difference.
