Default 96 civic dx b16a2 ecu

I have a B16A2 swap from a 99 civic si in my 96 DX hatch. The ecu I am running is a p2p. Ive been told from countless people that I should run something else so I caved and got a p28 with an obd2>obd1 harness that is chipped and tuned for my car. It runs terrible on the p28. Does anyone know what basemap I should be using? Also is there a better option than p28?

Once chipped it doesn't matter p28 p72 p73 and so on. Did this p28 come with the correct base map ?. you can change the chip out vs getting a new ECU

NO you CAN replace the chip with a correct base map for a b16 burned on it. getting it tuned is for when you're done your build a base map just helps it till you have the money for a tune.

Just received my obd1 eprom chip from Phearable.net and it still isnt running right. I notice a loss of power in low RPMs and the exhaust pops quite a bit when I let off the gas. Could it be the actual ECU is damaged and not the chip?

any codes ? check the TPS for any dead spots poping when you take your foot of ? you mean backfire that may indicate running rich. check your plugs.

this thread makes me want to die. you can tune a obd1 ecu for the correct stuff or can run an obd2 p30. That is all

PS or you can add the evap system and run a 99-00 SI ecu I think a P2T with a jumper
