Hot caliper question
Hey guys i just changed the front caliper on my '96. Now as I understand it, the caliper bolt with the rubber is supposed to go on the top? and the bolt without is supposed to go in the bottom right? well when i changed it, i thought it was the opposite because the bootless pin would not fit into the bottom so maybe i just need more grease to get it in there? if they are installed in the reverse, how would that affect the system because my brakes on that side are hot, and i don't know if its due to a fault brake hose, warped rotor, or something else.
Caliper bolts/sliders will have boots on both.

If the caliper is getting hotter than the other side, and the opposite side is working correctly, then it is possibly due to the missing boot allowing junk onto the slider causing it to seize.

I think he is talking about the pin that has a rubber/nylon ring near the bottom. Like #15 above. And how it is different from #14. There is probably a reason they are different but I never gave it much thought.
Ifdelar: yes, i took out both pins and installed new ones. However, the bottom pin was very difficult to get out; i had to take off the bracket and use vise grips. I then tried to clean out the hole with brake cleaner and sprayed crc silicone grease in there and installed the pin.
