Default What ECU do I need?

95 b20b engine w/p8r head b16 intake has pr4 ecu chipped already. What is the right ECU that I need? p75? pre chipped or virgin?

PR4 and P75 are basically the same thing. Keep what you have, and have it tuned for the engine you have.

Doesn't matter. Get it chipped for the configuration you are currently running.

So is a P75. Both are LS (B18A/B18B) ECUs. PR4 came in OBD0 ('90 - '91) and OBD1 ('92 - '93) P75 came in OBD1 ('94 - '95) and OBD2 ('96 - '01) The OBD1 versions are nearly identical aside from the automatic PR4s looking for an EGR valve.

Neither ECU is the right ECU for a B20. PHK is for a B20, it's really hard to find a manual version, and they're all OBD2. This is one of those times where the most sensible thing is a chipped ECU and a good tune.

Do you have an OBD1-0 ECU adapter?

You cannot tune a chipped ECU. You are going to need to contact a place like Xenocron or Phearable to have a new chip burned with MAPs tailored to your current configuration.

You can only tune using an EMS like CROME pro, Hondata, Neptune, etc.

Ok thanks I took a look at both websites I think Ill send the ecu out to Phearable and get it chipped with what the car is running and see how it runs from there. I figure if it runs great with the basemap then why bother getting it tuned? Maybe do a few dyno runs for $100 to get the numbers

I would check and make sure that the facts are right. The PR4 is OBD0 so they would also need an OBD0 distributor. Most people don't take that route. Also has a b16 "intake", like air intake or intake manifold, because the b16 intake manifold doesn't bolt right up.

Not true. I've always tuned on chipped systems. Moates Ostrich, live tuning, burn tune to chip when done.

The guy said it had a b16 manifold. Why does that not bolt up to a p8r head?

because a b16 head has a different bolt pattern.

The picture looks exactly like a b16 intake manifold from what I can see.
And it is possible to put one on a b20:
