Uses for a broken auto transmission
Hi all. I just was checking in to ask about this junked trans I got. Its pretty messed up, the bell housing is missing a large chunk out of it and its pretty much unusable. It also has a whole lot of miles on it (as far as the odometer says).
Its been sitting in my shed for a long while now and I have no idea what to do with it. I did manage to sell the solenoids on ebay but that's it. I also am trying to sell the torque converter... What else could I sell? I know there are 3 speed sensors on it but that's it. Anything inside the transmission that could be harvested???

You could post about it, then you could post about looking at it, then you could post about it being dirty, then you could ask about cleaning products in a post, then you could post pictures of you cleaning it, then you could post pictures of it being cleaned, then you could post about what you had for dinner, then you could post about it not being clean enough, then you could make a post about why our suggestions on cleaning products didn't work, then you could post about it being a transmission.
Close enough?

I say no one but inevitably SOMEONE will cone around looking for an accord TC or shaft speed sensors, but I extremely doubt it. Learn how to rebuild it, sell it as a whole junker or turn it into an uglybtable.
Tear it apart and take the aluminum and steel to your local scrap metal yard. They will weigh it and give you the most money for it.
No one will want to buy used gears out of an 18-23 year old automatic transmission that has an unknown history. At least most people that I know would not take your word that it ran great as a reliable history..... just saying!

Painted or not won't matter...they melt it all down.
As far as price goes, you can look up the going rate for aluminum and steel. They will weight it and should give you the going rate/lb.
Call your local scrap yard and ask them what the going price is per pound. then you can weigh your scrap and go form there.
I would suggest cleaning up your garage/yard and getting as much scrap steel and aluminum as possible. The transmission material itself probably won't make you rich.
