Fuel pressure regulator question
The last owner put a aeromotive FPR in and hooked it up all wrong. He has the main fuel line going to the rail (golden eagle), has one of the 1/8 ports on the rail with a fp gauge on it. The other he has going into the 1/8 port on the FPR which is supposed to be for a gauge as well. Poth side outlets on the FPR are blocked off. The vacuum hose is hooked up and where the main fuel hose goes on the bottom of the FPR he has one hooked up that i dont know what it is. Its a mess and im rather confused lol. I planned on just removing it entirely and going to a stock FPR but that hose he has on the bottom of the FPR now has me confused.
Which model number Areomotive regulator? Areomotive have several different models, some made for oem rails and other universal. You should have one line from fuel filter going into the fuel rail. One return line from the regulator to the fuel tank, and thats it. Pictures instead of diagrams would be nice. Areomotive FPR are some of the best money can buy, so if you have one use it. Unless you have upgraded your fuel system it may only be a cosmetic running stock psi. But Im confused on what the problem is..?
This regulator.

Here is the only pic I have at the moment. Basically its all hooked up wrong. It should be one line from filter to the dizzy side of the rail, then another out the other end of the rail into the side of the regulator. Then the return line on the bottom of the regulator to the tank. Basically im wondering if this can impact my fuel system enough to make it run lean. I know I need to change it but I have none of the fittings and such.

Edit- I missed the part about running lean, no you will be fine. Your fuel pump pushes out more then the engine requires in constant psi. Once the injector opens the fuel is drawn towards it instead of the FPR. The FPR doesnt suck up fuel, extra fuel pressure is what sends fuel to the FPR.
That looks right to me, that looks like a universal FPR. It works the same, the return line on bottom, line from rail, and i did forget about the vacuum line lol. Your thinking of a oem style on the rail set up. Leave it alone, it looks legit! As long as its set to the right psi, those are quality FPR's.
Heres a pic of my Euro-R intake I mocked up, it shows the oem style rail mount. vvv
