Icon2 Neglected CR-V

I bought a 2000 (x-reg) CR-V Auto no so long ago. and its been through some bumps and scrapes and dents (holes made with axe) and by the sound/look of it has been negleted
when i bought it the "check engine" light is on and blinks 10 times after starting. seller had no issues with it so just ignored it. (3 months ish)
apart from going to a Honda garage and having it scanned (not sure if Non-Honda garages can) does the 10 blinks mean anything?
i'm in the UK btw. Price for getting scanned? Can it be done FoC?
Also looking into a doing full diy maintenance service.
  • Oil Filter change (K&N)
  • Air Filter Change (K&N)
  • Oil Replaced (Castrol Magnatec 10W40)
  • ATF Replaced (Honda ATF-DW1)
  • Sparkplugs Replaced (Bosch 510 Super 4)
Any issues with the above ?
I need advice on
  • Fuel filters
  • Do i really need to do a 3x drain on the ATF (£15 per liter?)
  • anything missing
(Wipers, Tyres, brakes all replaced btw)

Please be gentle its my 1st Post

Cheers for helping a N00B on 4rum and a N00B doing maintenace

Just give the vehicle a complete once over on everything to make sure is ok, and see whats wrong with it, so you know what you need to fix to make it road worthy and make it run good.

The CEL blinks on it's own? That's not normal unless it's throwing misfire codes.

How to pull codes: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/how-pull-cel-d4-srs-abs-codes-code-lists-1901557/

Btw, those Bosch plugs will foul. Cheap NGK copper plugs are what you want.

Stay away from them bosch plugs, they are bad news. Check the timing belt, and replace it if needed, along with the water pump, check the exhaust gaskets for leaks.

Hello Gina,

I agree with the comment regarding bosch plugs - Don't use them in your Honda.

You need to purchase a Haynes manual.

Code 10 in the above manual relates to the intake air temperature (IAT) and states you should check the sensor. Okay reading the manual it does not give a lot of information regarding this sensor, it just states check and replace. Suggest you fit a new sensor.

Regards,

Kevin

if you google you can find the honda service repair manual on pirate bay in pdf form. It's the Helms version which is better than haynes.
