brand new b16 over heating issue how do i chech to see if the water pump is dead
hey I just built a b16 for my car and I now its over heating ive gone through two t stats and I don't know whats going on and I don't think its air in the system so if I can just get to it how do I know if the pump is dead I un did the upper radiator hose and rolled the car over with the plugs out to see what would happen and I got nothing no rushing water and no suction any help on this would be appreciated
It was a legit question... To ascertain if you have a defective pump possibly, or if it was never changed in the first place. How can we narrow it down if we aren't there??
You catch more flies with sugar....just saying

I understand but the only question I asked was how to check if the pump is dead other than what I did which was undo the upper radiator hose and crank it over and see if it pumped water or created suction of which it did neither, but I don't know if I should have enabled spark to let it run to create rpms for the pump to do its job, but again thanks for the input sweetheart enjoy the sugar
Yes, is the fan working?
Trapped air is a real possibility, did you get anything squirting out of the bleeder fitting?

First off you haven't checked the water pump with what you did. You haven't actually checked anything this way. The water pump ain't moving much if the car is cold. The thermostat is closed. Second, just cranking the car and not having it running won't be moving much water even if the thermostat is open. Maybe you should bring your car to someone with a clue, and a better attitude...
well i got it all sorted and the culprit was my temp sensor on the block reading incorrectly so a new one solved the problem but thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it !!!!!!!
