Default Coilover Options for 1st gen CRV

Hey guys, I just picked up a '99 CRV AWD 5 speed, and I'm looking into wheels and suspension as the first mods. However, as we all know, there are few off-the-shelf setups available for us. So I'd like to see what setups you guys have gone with. I've heard of using Accord fronts with DSM rears and a machined bushing, EK suspension all the way around (Sounds iffy to me), and using 98-01 Accord coilvers and shaving the rear bushing in the rear.

Anyone here with any credible info, pics, etc?

Integra ITR fit front and back as the rears bolt up the same. I have Function & Form type 2 in mine that are from a Integra. I like how thy ride.

I have the Function & Form Type One coilovers on my BB1, and though I really like how they ride, their spring rates are way too soft in the rear. I assume the suspension is on the CRV in your avatar? I know the Koni/GC setup has some issues with the ITR rears being that the perch is much lower, and the strut is shorter overall, meaning the rear will be absolutely hammered. Any issues with ITR coilovers? Do you know if the tophats are good to go, or if I need to use the stockers?

I have no problem with them at all. The rears I have set fully soft and the fronts fully hard, and it rides nice. They will be coming out soon tho, as I'm lifting mine now lol.

LOL want some stockers? Also, is yours RTAWD or FWD? Are there any real differences in the suspension between the two of them?

I could have sworn I didn't see them listed for a CRV, but I'll check again.

EDIT: I was indeed mistaken.

Also, I read somewhere that when you dump an RD1, you need shorter endlinks in the rear. Being that yours has it's nuts pretty much on the ground, I'll take your experience as gospel, Sticker Bomb. Can you shed any light on this?

I still have all the stock suspension in it other then the full coilovers.

F&F don't make suspension for CRV's, I've checked before, you order them for a ITR or even a accord works.

Not saying you haven't, but mine have lots of height.

I haven't seen them listed either. Dunno maybe they just don't list them. However, if I get the accord units, I'll have to swap top hats. Not a big deal. Is everything kosher with ride height? I don't want the highest setting to be super dumped.I've had that happen before on a 240 before lol

I can move mine up and down still 3". I did not even set height on mine. I just bolted them in at the height they where in my Integra, and they sit almost level with the tires, so I don't really need to go lower, but I can if I want to tho.

I know the owner. They are awesome. Going low enough, I'd swap the rear endlinks shorter, or your sway bar will be pointing straight up. Grind the front upper control arm, and get a rear camber kit.

What endlinks would I look into? I didn't see any aftermarket options. Would Integra links work?

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I want to be spoonfed, there's just not a whole lot of info on hammered CRVs.

Also on the subject. Camber kits. EK kits work? I'm not really fluent in Civic chassis parts, being from the Prelude world.

That's pretty sweet. What size wheels/tires are you using? I'm worried about clearance when I put wheels on mine. I want to run the 17" TL Type-S wheels (the graphite colored ones) which are 17x8 +45, and most likely a 225/45 or 205/50 tire.

Right now I'm runn17X7 with a 215/45R17 tire and I rubbed over bumps and when turning over a bump. I cut some of the metal behind the inner fender to fix that.

I know what wheel you are talking about, I was thinking of getting a set, but I did not really like how they looked on a first gen CRV.

I'm picking up a second set of 17's tonight for my CRV to run my bigger tires, so I'll be selling my old rims now.

Yeah EK,EG,DC integras rear upper control arms are all the same. The suspension in them are pretty well the same in are CRV's.

Okay so an EK front camber kit should work fine then, right? As long as I don't get an adjustable upper control arm, that is.

What's the offset on your wheels?

And I fell in love with this CRV

The rear camber kit off a civic, and any adjustable endlink. I use the ones for a civic fully extended. I have gone through two pairs of blox ones from rust, so im not sure what brand I will do next

I always wondered if those wheels would look right on the crv... And they do!

Only problem is I think the rear is gonna have fitment issues when camber is corrected.

I think I'm just gonna pick up some RPF1's or something cheap like that. I mean, you can get those TL (replica) wheels STUPID cheap... but it seems a little aggressive for the CRV.

Those TL type S wheels are cheap, even the real ones. RPF1's are not cheap, and no one will sell them cheap.

Mine are same the stock offset of +40

Stock wheels are 15x6 +55. And RPF's aren't that expensive, at about $230 a wheel. For reference, the wheels on my Prelude go for about $900 used... if you can find a set. They've been discontinued since like '94. Such a shame. It's a beautiful wheel, and weighs in at 12lbs for a 15x7. Forged two-piece wheels ftw.
