ks tuned tensinor
I bought one but my mechanic said he wouldnt warranty it if he put it in.
He said that the ks tuned one looks like the lock nut will come lose. and that the aluminum base isnt good at all. he said that he will check if my OEM h22 tensinor is fine. and he said it most likely is fine.
What should I do. should i put it in anyways.

I would trust a manual KS "which i do cause i own one lol" over a oem one any day! If you want to be slick about it have him install the oem one, then go home and swap it out yourself! You can apply some thread lock to it to make even more secure. If there ever is a problem, swap back in the oem one and take back to shop.
He isnt installing a new OEM tensinor. I have a timing belt, kstuned tensinor and a water pump.
he said he doesnt want to do the kstuned tensinor because the h22a hydro one looks good and isnt broken. he checked it
should i just tell him to put the tensinor in anyways

Enough people have had issues with the oem unit, even using new ones, trusting a used one is just plain dumb.
I am currently swapping a new head onto my engine due to that lack of judgement, since KS was out of stock on theirs and I really wanted to run my new build.

It varies, and especially if you have milled your head, it is only a matter of time before your belt slips because of not enough tension. I have a friends car in my shop currently for the 2nd time with a bad belt and tensioner because he didn't have enough money for the KStuned tensioner. I told him I'm not doing a oem tensioner again. I told him when I built the motor to change it. He wouldn't listen, but he is now.

The biggest canadian car shop said they wouldnt recommend KS tuned. They said the oem ones rarely fail.

Your mechanic is a regular mechanic that doesn't have any experience with aftermarket.
He is probably used to the rice rockets with a bunch of garbage mods come in. That's why he doesn't like the KS tensioner.
Bring your car elsewhere to someone who understands the parts.
I have seen the oem tensioner go with less then 5k.

He is a mechanic for a big truck company. And he lives in a city that is dominated by ricers. But I never see him working on rice cars. Mainly regular everyday cars to high end cars. Truck mechanic by day, home mechanic by night. He just didnt trust it because of the jam nut on the KS tensinor. He said there is a chance it may come lose even with locktite. and he said the belt might walk off the cams a bit if it isnt set properly. hes doing it on thursday
i use it on my race car which turns 11k rpm
i use it on my daily which has a built head
most other people who know the pains of doing a timing belt with the h23 tensioner know how awesome this product is, the ease of install and wonder why it was not developed sooner
most people who run h22's know Kaizenspeeds love for the H22 and their history and parts development and research.
99% of H22 racers use this tensioner
its a great product and engineered very well.
the only reason the belt is going to walk is if it is installed improperly or something driving the belt is bent.

Well you have every user on this thread vouching for the ks tuned tensioner including myself isn't that good enough? I have one on my euro-r with about 1100 miles on it and no issues or complaints about it. The oem unit took a **** on me after only having 80 miles on it.
As I said I had 2 oem ones go out in just a few weeks time. Same car, all because he wanted his motor swapped so badly instead of buying the manual tensioner I recommended from the jump.
lmao, i will just say everything i was gonna say, was already said.
but what really made me laugh is the fact 98vtec's avatar is him flicking off the auto-tensioner ...think that speaks for itself.

I hope my mechanic will set the tension properly on it. im sure he will and wont cut corners. he does good work all the time.
