I currently have the option to pick up a used set of EG ground control coilovers for cheap. Will they fit an EK with stock shocks?

 

They can and you will blow your shocks shortly after you lower it.

Yes they will work. Sleeve coilovers have a notoriously bad ride quality.

 

No they don't. You must be thinking of those Ebay non-branded pieces of junk or the sleeves that are mismatched to the shocks people get to run with them.
There is an all elusive adapter that you can use for "regular" GC sleeves with Koni shocks. Good luck finding a set.

Better to pair them with some Tokico Illuminas.

 

I had GC on my 89 Accord and it was pretty rough and bouncy, it had Koni yellows. The Ebay ones that were on my Civic were way more bouncy and a stuper stiff/hard ride.

 

And you haven't mentioned anything about spring rates so I'm betting that was your problem.

Like I said, matched components. As in, matched to the car usage, height and spring to shock.

 

Found a set of fairly used Koni Yellows for sale. How much should they be running for? They're 2-3 years old if I remember correctly.

 

Unless the ground controls are Koni specific, I wouldn't buy those Konis unless you locate the proper adapter.

$150 probably. You just don't really know with used struts though, that's why I bought mine new. New is around $450 though.
