I bought a set of hubs/knuckles off a 2000 base prelude, to do 5 lug conversion on my 92. I bought new bearings that fit in the new hubs and everything seemed to match up.

Except

The 4gen axles do not fit.
28 spline on the outer CV
The hubs are 29 spline
Driveshaftshop says they have not seen this and do not make an axle for it

That becomes a custom axle, but since the 4th and 5th gens share so many parts then only thing need to be done is use the the outers of the 5th gen and then the rest should all be fine.

The 88-89 and 90-91 ludes have the same issues, 88-91 all the same lengths and parts, but the difference is that the 90-91 use a 29 spline count while the 88-89 use a 28 spline count.

 

you should get some hubs from a mdx. they will fit the 4th gen axles. if you want i can get you the dorman part number for them

 

Why not just buy 5g axles? The outer splines will match the hubs and the inboard ones will match since all H/F trans have the same spline count in the differential.

 

I know it’s been forever but if you know the year of the mdx that would be so helpful

 

4th & 5th gen axles are both 28 spline- you can use your 4th gen axle in the 5 lug swap using a thick washer under the axle nut. You got a funky hub...
