Default 97 h22a4 in a 96 accord

Glad to be a part of this forum.

I own a 96 accord ex AT and I have a mechanically complete 97 prelude MT type SH.
My hope is to rob everything out of the prelude, motor, trans, suspension. The prelude has everything but a good body and interior.
I have some questions I'd love to get some advise on.
To start, can I use the ecu if I also use the steering column so i don't run into the immobilizer issue?
Will the axels work on my car if I'm using the tranny and suspension?
Will the front suspension even bolt up to my car?
I was told the rear is a direct bolt on but they weren't sure about the front.
Do I have to have a manual gauge cluster or can I keep my AT one?

Any help is very appreciated!!!! Thx

Any particular reason you want the suspension?
There isn't going to be any benefit over the Accord.

Don't think you will need the whole column, more likely just the key cylinder/tumbler assembly. On other makes there is usually a transmitter/receiver that is attached to the key tumbler, dunno what the Prelude is.

The Prelude is derived from the Accord, there are differences in mounting points/attachment that will not allow the suspension links to interchange.
Keep the Accord suspension, use Accord axles, MT for MT, AT for AT.

Who is 'they'? And why do you want the Prelude suspension? Again, different types of control arms, different attachment methods etc. Jack up the rear of both cars and look at them, totally different control arms.

The AT gauge cluster can be retained.

I would suggest you look into the Accord FAQ at the top of the page for further information on general information and swap articles.

Thanks so much!!!!
Very helpful. I mainly wanted the five lug set up and I thought the discs were bigger also. That really the only reason for the suspension.
So you saying if I use MT axle of my year accord, they will work with the prelude tranny?
Thanks again and ill check out the articles you suggested as well

I'm not so sure that that SH tranny will bolt up without some kind of fabrication.

This is what I found with a quick check.
