crx probems need help...first diy project for me/first honda
Having fuel problems i think with my 89 crx hf ...stock d15b6... its acting like its gettin no fuel but ive changed filter, pump works fine, replaced wires plugs, got it started earlier ...but wont start again any tips??? i bought this for a project but need it to run untill new engine gets paid for and arives..ANY TIPS ???ANYTHIN N ILL TRY????
why do you say it has no fuel? how did you test the fuel pump? can you hear the injectors firing at all? they should make a slight ticking noise as the solenoid fires.
in the past I've pulled out the injectors from the manifold and turned over the engine to watch them fire. that way there is no doubt, you see for yourself a spray of fuel (spray them into a little water bottle to capture the fuel mist and minimize risk of setting yourself and the car on fire), then you can move onto other things. so in order of what i would do:
1. check fuel pressure with a gauge
2. check the injector firing command with a noid light
or
2. pull injector(s) out and crank - watch for spray and don't spray fuel next to the distributor or ignition wires. spray the fuel into a water bottle.
in fact, disconnect the ignition wires altogether when you do this test. it's insanely dangerous to be doing this. in fact wrap multiple layers of a garbage bag overtop of the distributor and tape it down with electrical tape.

ya i took them out watched it spay been workin all day on it ....doing all kinds of different things ..got it too start more ofter now sat and wondered wtf ....checked to see if it was firing and it was and then it wasnt ..so....... that lead me to take of the dizzy cap off and my damn coil was melted completly but it still runs when it wants ...pretty sure that was my prob ....and replace the filter again probably didnt even need too
i bought this car for a project and want to do a b18 swap ...money isnt really an issue i have always wanted a project honda ...finally i got this 89 crx for $800 it runs n has like 189,000 miles but im no mechanic and will probably be on here asking for help along the way....it has a d15b6 if i knew how to make this stock motor better to where i dont need a swap but just beef this up i would ...but i dont know what to buy for it to rebuild it ...i would love to change it to a vtec head for now but still so new too this im clueless what to do or buy ...got money, no knowledge, nor experience, this is a learning and just for fun/headach project ....
Well if you really want to do this all yourself then I suggest you spend a lot of time reading. The most difficult part is going to be the wiring.
