Default J32 v6 LONG tube header build

This is my first header, first time with stainless, and third welding project.
Using 16ga 1.75" 304 stainless. Runners are about 26" long on the rear, I may have to extend them as the merge for the fronts at 26" would be exactly under the pan.

So far I have nearly finished the rear, the only problem I have with it is that the center runner has a pretty steep angle near the top.

Here is the start of the rear

Clearance is good, but I will have to make a new power steering line, or go electric power steering!

Here is is all tacked together. After this I removed the tacks from the flange and started to fully weld the pipes (with a back purge even). Unfortunately I ran out of argon tonight or I would have some shots of it done by now.

Fitment of the pipes is really good, I'm quite proud of that.

Got everything welded up on the rear.

Here is the start of the front

I built this crossover to go from flat to triangle so I could use the premade merge and gain ground clearance.

Here it is all together, finally getting some color out of the joints

After getting the front done I had to remake the rear to match the length of the front. Somewhere around 34" is pretty average on the front and rear. I was aiming for 36" to the valves and it should be very close.

Here they are side by side

I just realized that I hadn't ordered 3", so this will have to be continued next weekend.

Not bad for first go...... looks like those slip on collectors are going to leak though based on the gaps I was seeing.

Agreed, the joints are very inconsistent between them. You get what you pay for as they say. On the next set I would like to build flat collectors with vbands.

Yeah the first header I made I used a Chinese collector since then..... burns collectors. Obviously the price jumped 200.00 but pass it on to the customer If they want quality parts. I'm assuming these are for u though based on ur sig.

This is the start of the merge collector. Dual 3" into 3.5".

I was originally planning to make my own stainless flange but found a 3.5" Vibrant that will work.

The slip collectors have finally been eliminated! Did a quick test and cruising is around 11.5 AFR. I haven't had a chance to download the log yet but that could be why the car had such awful mileage.

Here is just one of the MANY leaks

Was trying to build it with just one vband for simplicity, but trying to line up a 6 foot header was not happening.

Added the second vband right after the merge.

nice work man.

I want to hear what it sounds like.

I did comptech knock offs but with a 3" J pipes and 3" exhaust on my CL and it sounds pretty mean.

I can't believe I forgot to make a video before winter. When spring hits I will get one.

It sounds pretty raspy with that 3.5" exhaust, I want to redo it eventually.

What's up man my name is leigh,

All I wanted to know is how much would you charge to build me a set of these headers , I always wanted to run actual dual pipes all way back on my coupe but exhaust shops around where I leave act like it can't be done or just to lazy to do it and to be honest I'm not that good of a welder but I'm really serious how much ???? You can shut me a email t37326015@gmail.com.
