So I have a problem where when I turn on the A/C my car loses most of its power. I turned the clutch by hand and found that it hangs up every time you make a full 360 degree rotation. I am assuming that this is bogging down the system which is causing the power failure...just wanted to get someones opinion on this.

Also, the system had r12, so from what I have read I need to replace a few things...

Compressor w/clutch
Drier
Expansion Valve
o-rings

Does this sound right?

That's a start yes.

Are you staying R12 or converting to 134?

I would recommend staying R12 if you can find it

 

Jonathan, if I stay R12 could I not just replace the compressor and clutch then?
