F22A4 with aftermarket cam or f22a6 cam?
A buddy of mine said I should get an f22a6 cam for my f22a4, but then someone came up and said it wouldnt make a big difference and that i should get an aftermarket cam from a big name brand. So which is it? Also any other small-ish upgrades i could do to the f22 to gain a little hp? it's completely stock.
What are your goals? Do you have a local tuner that can tuner your car after an aftermarket camshaft upgrade?
If not you can do an A6 camshaft and lower intake manifold mated to an H23 upper plenum and throttle body. Then use the A6 ECU for a few extra ponies without a tune.

The H23 manifold with the P12 ecu works great in my f22a1. I removed the butterflies completely. I think its just the right mix of air and velocity. JDMAccorn on Cb7Tuner.com knows all about that, he's got the sweetest NA build i've seen on an F22a. He said when he removed the butterflies from the H23 manifold he had more tq and hp, he had dyno graphs to prove it.
Sure the P12 ECU is out of a Prelude, however it's still mapped for the F22A1 engine. It really won't give you all that much over the PT6 without properly tuning it. Unfortunately, you can't tune a P12 ECU....yet!
I would go for the A6 cam, I had my reground to reduce the base circle of the cam a small bit. (A6 in a B2) Then used a adjustable fuel pressure regulator to dial it in. It's crude and only really useful for the range you set it for but it works.
The regrind, the FPR, and messing with base timing helped me raise/shift the powerband to 5750+

You had to regrind the base on the a6 cam to fit a b2? This is the first I've heard of that, I figured it was a drop in swap! Hm. I kinda wanted to do this with an F23 intake, but hearing that doesn't sound promising.

Well, I'll probably drop in an a6 cam and my buddy is giving me a p12 and h23 upper plenum for just $30 since he's leaving for the army or something like that. How much hp would i get from putting the h23 plenum with the stock a4 intake mani with the a6 cam and p12 ecu?
I reduced the base circle which in turn increased the lift of the cam.
more difference between low and high spots = more lift
it is a direct swap
Edit: should've made myself more clear. I didn't realize I worded it the way the way I did

Ah, that's the other thing that went through my mind. Notice any difference? I may still go ahead with it if it'll run/drive ok on a stock ECU. I keep going back and forth with an F23 swap, but that's kind of a lot of work. Plus, I need to replace my lower spark plug tube seals anyway, this will give me an excuse to upgrade the cam at the same time.

I cannot shift past 7k or so because of the stock computer but it pulls till then and it honestly feels like it wants to go beyond that. (a stock A6 cam will definitely not) I imagine it would be better than a B2 cam though, but no direct comparisons here though. Just speculation.
EDIT: i have an example in my sig
The A6 and B2 camshaft have very similar cam profiles. I have posted the measurements on here before. However, I can't find them now.... Not much difference in lift or duration.
oh alright then, there we have it. So in the end it wouldn't have mattered which cam I chose to replace the old one. As far as before it was reground I mean.
I think it's in either my build thread or in the "F22B1 not so bad" thread on CD5tuner. They're extremely close.
