BAXA housing update?
1999 Accord LX, 2.3l 4dr with BAXA automatic transmission. Just picked up the full service manual and gathering information, (and trying to collect my wits and nerve...) to do a full rebuild of the transmission.
HERE'S THE QUESTION:
I've heard the BAXA tranny suffers from too small differential bearings (amongst other things...) and that somewhere through the years Honda started making a housing / transmission case which would accept larger bearings as a fix.
1) Is this fact or fiction?
2) If true, how does one identify the "updated" or improved housings?
(such as if looking for replacement tranny from whatever source)
3) And related to #2, how do I identify which housing I currently have?
(I suspect the current tranny is not the original one for this vehicle)
I'm wondering if this would be an important factor in the decision whether to rebuild my current tranny, or look for a different (updated) one?
Looking forward to what all ye wise sages out there know about this. Many thanks in advance.

Check with h&a tranmissions/gearspeed. They offer the updated housing forsale but i believe you can also get your originally transmission housing updated through them if you have them rebuild it.They will likely be able to inspect the case to see if it needs the update/modified housing.Call them and give them the serial number on your specific transmission and they will likely be able to check if its one of the affected transmissions.
