I noticed yesterday that the honda exhaust has nuts? Will they break off? D16y8 engine is what I have..

Can I remove the two nuts without taking the manifold off? Is there enough lea way to do this job.

Try it. That's all anyone can tell you.

 

Yes you can take off the downpipe off the manifold with the manifold still attached to the head. Watch your knuckles when trying to get those nuts off for the first time.

i bled like hell when i was removing a rusty old dc sports header off a h22 prelude.... i may have been intoxicated while doing so but oh well...
Put it this way my socket got stuck on a rust nut and to this day my socket is still there and the header is half way removed and has been this way for over a year or so.....(its a junker h22 prelude with spun bearing, lol)

 

Can it be removed? Yes. Be prepared to fight for it though. Soak the nuts and studs in PB Blaster or an equivilant for a day if you can, You'll be glad you did.
