Re: How to improve HP
If I could go back and tell the younger me "don't waste your damn money on bolt-on parts" I'd have so much more money in my pocket.

Re: How to improve HP
You have two options
Swap to a bigger engine.
Boost your current engine.
Those are your ONLY options.

nope first option should be a chip specially after you added intake and soon adding exhaust now you are making your car lean. you need a tune just bolting up bolt-ons will decrease your power. and no stock ecu's don't compensate.

Re: How to improve HP
Basically this. There is absolutely zero reason to get a professional tune for basic bolt-ons. If you want to get the hardware and learn how to do it yourself, go for it, but between the necessary hardware and the professional time, you would be paying a bare minimum of $600 for maybe 10-15whp over stock. That's a comical waste of money. For the money you would spend on a professional tune, you could pay for professional driving lessons and go faster than your tune would make you.
If you want more power, either swap in a B18 variant, or boost your D. It's that simple.

Re: How to improve HP
First off, a basemap is not a tune. Second off, any professional tuner will charge you $500+ for their time, their expertise, and their hardware. That's not counting the hardware you'll need to buy for your car. You can't reference a dyno sheet and then not post anything - we aren't going to take anyone's word for it, especially yours, and especially when multiple dynos have been shown, without a tune, to gain minimal (2-5) whp with bolt-ons. On top of that, you don't seem to understand how engines work. Here's a catch phrase you should remember: Leaner is meaner. Lean your engine out, and (to an extent) you will make more power, while putting more stress on your engine. Basic bolt-ons are not going to lean out an engine to the point of detonation, or to the point of necessary heat build-up to crack pistons.
You've obviously never actually tuned a car before, and probably don't understand half of what I just said.
OP, a B18B1 (LS) swap can be had for under $1000, and will net ~142BHP. A B18C1 (GSR) swap can be had for around a grand, and will net ~170BHP. A B18C5 (ITR) swap can be had for $1500, and will net ~195BHP. You can safely and effectively boost a D16Yx for $1500-$2000, if you're careful shopping around and piece together your own kit, and reliably get ~200-210WHP on stock internals. Please ignore the stupid that keeps popping up in this thread, figure out what your goals and budget are, and pick from the above list.

Re: How to improve HP
As was said, how do you chip and tune OBD2? Clearly you have no clue what you're talking about.
Throw on an intake and exhaust if you want to try and improve throttle response and mileage, but don't delude yourself into thinking your car is more powerful simply because it sounds like it. When you stage up next to another Civic at a light and it actually pulls ahead of you and your car feels like it's straining to catch up, remember everything everybody is telling you.
