I was looking for a new set of tires for my CRX. I just got a set of MR5 15x6.5, but don't I haven't decided on a size, brand or tread for the tires. Does anyone have any recommendations?

195/50R15 is a pretty decent size for that wheel

next question would be, do you care how long the thread last? and are you looking for maximum grip?

 

i run a set of nitto neo gens on my hatch, 205-50/15's. really grippy, and great in everything but snow. plus they look beast poking out over the edge of the rim a little bit

 

Price and lifespan does not matter. I have a set of JMags which I can put normal tires on.

 

195/50 Dunlop Z2's or Toyo R1R. Former is a better tire in the rain, but the latter is probably faster. I really love my Z1 Star Specs, running 205/50's on 15x6 fat 5's, fantastic daily driver tires and wear for a 200UTQG tire. I ran them as my dedicated autox tire for about 50 passes then put them to DD duty with probably ~7K miles on them and still about half tread. They've had a rough life in daily duty as well lol.

 

the two that xotic suggested work. also to add, look up the new RE11a's, and the rivals. not gonna suggest the 615k, because the zII's out class those, hell any of the other tires out class the 615k, and they all cost about the same price.

these are the list of tires for your size. all of them are 205/50/15, which should fit your rims fine. the top list is extreme performance tires. the kind autocrossers use, the bottom list is street tires that are meant for track use. they aren't full slicks, but have close to the same in grip, but with more tire life.

 

I forgot about the Rivals, they look freaking awesome from the tests I've seen. I haven't seen anything yet on the RE11a. I can second the RT615K's, I had the old RT 615's then two new K's and they were still nowhere as good (especially in the rain) as my Z1's.

I also have some R888's that are much grippier than the Z1's, but they're wearing substantially faster. You may could eek 10K miles out on a well-aligned car.
