^ Same for me. Even though its a race car, I'd rather not have the compressor surge.

If you are boosted you should be running a BOV. Its bad for the turbo not to run one. Im running Turbosmart Raceport. Love turbosmart products. tial is good too

Some people say if you run an anti-surge housing you dont need one. I have the anti-surge housing but went ahead and ran one anyways (Turbosmart Raceport)

Yes, you should run one.

I have a synapseengineering synchronic bov and no issues almost 2.5 years later. Its fully adjustable based on how fast you want it to dump.

That is not the same surge. Ported housing are meant to shift a turbo's surgeline to the left by exposing air to the middle of the compessor.

When you slam the throttle shut on a turbo at full speed it will definitely blow all that air out the front of the compressor in a violent way. Run a bov unless you have a diesel

Synapse here also. Best BOV on the market.

it would be a good idea to get one if you let off the gas between shifts..

I run a tial blow off valve my ef is set up for drag racing as well but if you take off your blow off valve you are just asking for boost leaks the pressure is going to have to go some where when you let off the gas

Tial springs are rated off vacuum so if you pull 20" vacuum at idle run a 10psi spring, 16" run a 8 etc

It explains it in the instructions that come with the valve. Basically if you have a big cam you pull less vacuum so you need a diff spring. A normal engine will make about 20 in hg at idle. Mine makes around 14-15 in hg due to the cam.

Okay, running S2Pro1s cams.
Didn't take attention about that, what are the consequences If spring is too soft or stiff?

If the spring tension is too low, idle vacuum will pull it open when you don't want/need it open.
If the spring tension is too high, vacuum won't pull it open when you do want/need it to open.

Using TIAL also, and yes it matters, so you should run one regardless of setup, street or track only, it's doesn't matter if you want to save your turbo.......... Don't think this is an official chart, but basically what everyone is talking about...

So a stock motor ls b18b1 turbo should need a 11psi spring?cause the one I ordered from go auto works is coming with a 6 psi spring and there was no option to choose from

Just tested at idle, 15.5in/hg, so I need a 8 spring If I want to open the BOV when shifting?

I would go with a 9psi in that case.... I would verify with Tial... just in case the springs have changed over the years....
