Icon2 92 civic hatch Car creeps to H then drops down then Back to normal

So tonight were driving and i realize that the Coolant temp gauge was starting to slowly start creeping towards the H then before i could get the car stopped it level backt o normal. It happen sometimes on Acceleration and other just when ever.

Now 2 years ago I Replaced the Hd Gasket along with the thermostat. Just 2 months ago i replace the radiator cause it was the original radiator of the car and it was corroding on the out side around the the whole metal sides. I bleed the system and all then we took a drive to WV last week to visit friends and had no problems. So i'm concered if this is a Coolant temp problem or a acutal in car gauge.

In the winter i noticed that the guage sometimes seem like it was stuck on the Cold side after 20 mins driving till you smack the top of the interior over the gauge and once you do that it came moved to the normal position. Don't know what to do ? Any help would be great

Sounds like the gauge to me since you say you smack it and it changes:I would replace it or borrow one to confirm it being bad or install an aftermarket temp gauge with sensor and see if it happens with it too.

sounds like the gauge. try a different cluster with a known good temp gauge not something you want to have not working right.

So i took it back out a hour later and try seeing if it would do it again well it didn't peg at the top in the H but id stay about a quarter size under the H and when i got home the FAN WAS RUNNING constantly while at idle.

Is your thermostat a Honda unit, or an aftermarket/non-OEM replacement?

okay just went out and checked car after it cooled down. No coolant in the radiator now mind you though the the coolant overflow tank is completely full. ?

I had a head gasket leak 2 years ago. Now when i had that my coolant reservoir was empty wtf ?

Guess i should do a pressure test.
