how to turn off check engine light
i have a 99 integra, i just put on an aftermarket exhaust and got rid of the cat. the check engine light is now on. how do i get it to go off? i heard a spacer might work but im not positive. is this true? if not does anyone know of any other tricks or tips to get it off?
The code is most likely a P0420 code, with is a cat code. Also did you remove the rear 02 sensor that is normally on the cat, because if so, that will throw a code also. The only way to get them to turn off would be put the stuff back on, or do the hack thing to do and pull the cluster from the car and pull the bulb out.
those "foulers" do work from what I've seen can olways obd2 to obd1 and just leave the primary in that's what I did test pipe no codes...but im obd1 from the start
If you're getting P0420 the defouler should work. You'll need the L shaped one, the straight one will not give you enough room for the sensor.
It worked for me. I barely passed smog and would get P0420 about once per week. Since the defouler, I have not had it come on once. I got mine here: http://bigdaddiesgarage.com/
If you removed your secondary O2 sensor, you're not going to get rid of that code with a defouler. You could use an O2 simulator:
