Wierd Over Heating Problem HELP!
Hey whats going on Honda-Tech,
Ok so here's my problem. I baught a DA9 with a b18a1 about 2 months ago for very very very cheap. It had an Overheating problem. So i have experience on rebuilding motors and changing just about anything on a Honda/Acura. I changed My head gasket, thermostat, Hoses, and it even has a brand new cylinder head. i did a compression test and all cylinders are at 150psi in all 4 cylinders. So my car drives fine. It idles at 800-900rpms. It only overheats while driving, once i stop to idle it cools down pretty quickly within 5 min or so. while im driving sometimes it will fluctuate getting close to the H but not fully and back to the center. I also changed the temp switch. im STUMPED! PLEASE HELP!

You changed a headgasket and the head without first finding the problem?!? Interesting. My guess would be a bad radiator. Test it for flow. You never mentioned throwing money at that.
ill check for radiator flow. it looks brand spanking new. I changed the parts just for a safety precaution including the timing belt and water pump so i dont have to worry about it later. idk what maintenance has been done on it so might as well get it out of the way right? also got the car for dirt cheap under 500 bucks so it wont hurt to throw some cash into it for reliability. Thanks for the reply.
Timing belt and water pump make perfect sense. But a head? You might have even topped MY OCD. lol
Is the head properly purged of air? This causes funky temp readings sometimes.

Well I had the head from a rebuilt b18 I had but went vtec and the head I just had chillin so why not use it? The old head had some build up so fresh is always better. I blead the valve and no bubbles came out just constant flow. I've never had this problem before. No wonder I got it dirt cheap lol. Worst comes to worst I'll buy a b20 and sell the b18 as a personal rebate. Still need to check radiator flow though. Hanna go get some coolant right NOW!
