Rings gone/going can i "bandaid" this. 94 b18c1
Car ran super rich for a long time and washed the walls pretty good. have determined this via a wet comp test and ppl saying this. comp dry is 210-220 1-4 wet test is 300,240,280, and didn't do #4 wet. my question is can I "bandaid" this by milling the head .015-.030 I know a rebuild would be ideal but I don't have the know how to pull the engine plus this is my DD. car is getting tuned this Thursday so i'll see what it puts down. comp was at one point 240-239-238-240.
Milling the head wouldn't help you at all. Has nothing to do with the piston rings themselves. Call and cancel your appointment, and reschedule once you get the block back out with new piston rings.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Run non-detergent (ND) 30wt. You can get it at Walmart or some of the smaller autoparts store.
Change your spark plugs.
Lesson, here is don't run on a shitty basemap; IT WILL HURT YO MOTOR.

I think i'll just go threw with getting it tuned maybe mill the head .015 or something and when I know how i'll pull the engine and start messing with the internals.
Mechanical issues can't be tuned out. I don't know where this logic came from, but i'm seeing it more often.

Getting it tuned will just make things worse, because he'll try and tune it off of a bad engine. Most tuners won't ALLOW the car to be on there KNOWING something mechanically is wrong with the engine. You'd waste even more time and money.

if your removing your cylinder head, then you already did most of the work. the block can stay inside the engine bay as you remove the pistons/rods
Your dry compressions numbers are similar to my B18C. I am curious how you did your wet test. 300 is way high, makes me think you put to much oil in the cylinder and your wet numbers are worthless. I would pay someone to do a leakdown test before you tear your motor down.

You are supposed to use the 1 Qt oil bottle cap and poor one cap full into the cylinder. A shots worth is way too much. I bet your motor is fine.
ya I dumped about 4-5 times that in
lol. last time I did a wet test it rose by 5-10psi. that's why I was so schocked. will re do when I've ran the engine a good bit and only use a cap\s worth in each cyl.
thanks
