b18c1 aftermarket rings
ok guys i currently have a b16a engine turbo charged (stock) running 16 psi on a 50trim turbo which made around 360hp
a coupple weeks ago the rings went and it started smoking like crap..now i have another block in the works waiting to be completely rebuild (sleeved piston rods ect)
now just for the mean time am looking to fix back my b16a with some b18c pistons that i already have but am looking to replace the rings with aftermarket ones which should help..
do u guys think its a good idea??
my stock rings took a the bash for about 6 months until the rings broke which allowed the piston to crack so by putting stronger rings it should help right?

Re: b18c1 aftermarket rings
detonation..hmm i highly doubt...took off the head several time before and there no sign of detonation... been running the same timing for some months now..detonations kills a block almost instantly.
although am not saying it cant happen..
but i did notice the last time i raced the car and pull a few degres of timing i got a lil more kick.. but it wasnt pinging or knocking when i tuned it ..was using a Phormula knock sensor kit and it was clean through the entire rev range
ok....but in relations to a good tune will after market rings hold better than factory ones?
i just re read shifty post and no the pistons were cracked where the ring broke not on top on the dome or anything..it appears after the ring broke the pistons could not support the pressure..
