Default new Distributor Still Throwing Code 4 WHY

Here's the story, I did my swap around a month and a half ago and since then have never got to drive it. I've had pretty much the same problem since day one. I drove seven hours to go pick up a 90 ZC and drove seven hours back. I put it in my 90 CRX Si and it wouldn't start. I swapped in an 89 teg distributor that I had but it wouldn't run well and threw code 9. I got that distributor for free so I suspected that it had problems. Next I tightened up all the connections on the original zc distributor and put it back on and it started and ran very crappy and threw code 4. I posted and everyone decided it was my distributor. I bought a used 89 teg distributor that was supposed to be code free and running fine, I got it today. Put the connector on this one, strarted it up and within seconds code 4 was back. What is going on here?

is a code 4 even a distrib. problem? For all you know you could have been given mis-information. I would search for it.

update: I did some lookin for ya. The guys were right. It is a Crank Angle sensor. And the only way to fix that is to replace the distributor.

Umm that's what I'm trying to say with my post here, I replaced the distributor and still have the code.

It seems you have wires crossed at the distributor plug. I think the problem is on the engine distributor harness. Get someone elses car and compare wire colors and where they go on the plug.
Good luck

Hmm let me make sure I didn't do something stupid, I used my Si Harness so I never changed any plugs on the car harness side. I took the distributor plug off my old distributor and put it on my new distributor using the pic on dmoore's site. http://dmoore.com/crx/zc-phase3.htm. I did it so when the pic would be looking at the pin side of the plug. Was I supposed to do any other wiring?

I checked Dmoore's picture against the car harness and the peach/blue and white/blue wires were mixed up on his picture. Now code 4 is gone and I now have code 9.

Is it just me or all the websites off, http://www.geocities.com/civiczc/zcwire.html

But if you look at the harness on the car side peachblue is the one near the top white pin and not the whiteblue.
