Doubtful it is since there is no such thing. Is that the stamp on the engine block?

look at the block stamp...

the d17 engines were in the 01-05 civics and none ended in z6

It has been done before using d17a1/a2 block and z6 head.

OP - Post pictures of your motor and block stamp. You likely have it confused with a D16Z6.

OP. the z6 head IS a VTEC head. So I'm not sure where the **** you are coming from. D16Z6 comes in a handful of different civics, including the 92-95 Civic EX and Si. I have a 95 Civic EX with that engine, lightly modded. It is a fairly decent engine for a stock 1.6. Good power as long as you keep the revs above 3 grand.

Are the spark plugs on the exhaust side or intake side?

Front (exhaust) - VTEC

Back (intake) - Non-Vtec
