Default aftermarket pistons quality

Im going to build my 2nd motor. Planning on keeping this one for a while and am debating if there is another "good" manufacturer of oem pistons? I am looking to get p30 b16 pistons. Got a quote from the dealer. Kind of pricey. Any other good brands in a decent price range? And where can I get them? thanks

If you took the time to research and just google you will find your answer. There are plenty of aftermarket company that make std size piston, just do some research before posting a pointless thread.

I would recommend Je or CP or Wiseco.

Since you mentioned "good" and that you want the engine to last for a while, I would also like to remind you that the best pistons in the world will not survive a bad install.

I am not sure what you consider pricey, but there is also something to be said about honda pistons. Honda started out making the rings for toyota pistons before they started making cars and motorcycles, so if you really think about it, there are many many years of R and D that go into the material that honda uses. So if reliability and staying within stock compression is your main goal, I would stick with OEM even though, that might mean you spending more money.

Dover Corporation owns both Wiseco and Je, they are good pistons. Wiseco is cheaper and JE is more high end. CP as good as JE overall. Having said all that, good engine builders do not just read the specs and go installing parts , they prefer to measure everything in order to have control over their engine.

There are other brands as well that could work out like supertech but most of my experience has been with wiseco, je and CP.

You could get the best piston and still have failure based on a bad set of rods or incorrect clearances etc etc

Your welcome. Thanks for making a thread with no info. But to answer this one ^^^ It just depends on you and what you feel more comfortable with, referring to your question about piston ring. Not bashing on you, just saying your Op is very vague and it could mean a tons of things. Be more detailed next time.

good =quality= high price
it seems like you re looking for "OEM quality" pistons for half price.

RS machines been used in alot of builds here and i havent heard any problems with them breaking because of bad quality

Telling someone to Google search defeats the purpose of a member coming here asking for your valuable personally knowledge. Now, if you don't have any, STFUP.

These work perfectly fine.

These are available from machine shops and other resellers in-the-know.

These look pretty, right?

so who makes all those "oem style" pistons.

it seems like they are everywhere now

few years ago i can remember only RS machines and maybe 1 or 2 other companies offered the oem style pistons in different size. now its like vending machine pistons theyre everywhere

Ended up going the dealer and get them for 230 for a set of 4. rings were 130 for the set. Thats just too good a price for oem to pass up. thanks everybody for their input.

Not if he uses Google to search H-T specifically and reaps the benefit of all the valuable personal knowledge to be found.

I think if he would have mentioned what kind of build this was going to be in the first post (like a refresh or an all out build) he could have gotten more concise answers.

Seriously? There's a million posts on H-T. I can't even imagine searching for my own posts to find answers.

A person telling someone to Google search (whether it be H-T or RicerNation.com), basically tells me that person is a lazy-*** douche bag.

If that is so easy, then do the search and recommend some effin posts.

I am sure the RS machine stuff is made somewhere in southern asia (prolly China). Nothing wrong with that. I know the Safety Auto pistons are China-sourced and work fine.

RS machines i believe are made in taiwan if im not mistaken, but they are constructed out of a different cast material than OEM, 336 aluminum (AC8A) and T6 heat treated, and teflon coated. I think the most noticeable improvement over stock pistons is the fact that the ring lands are so much thicker.

rocket, the company and pistons are from Taiwan. its possible that even the OEM honda pistons come from the same factory as well but dont quote me on that lol steve (omni) knows all this stuff. sometimes i wonder what he doesn't know lol
