Working on a 93 DX auto DD:
if i give it too much gas i hear a high pitch whistle and it won't accelerate. but if i increase my speed slowly i have no problems. I tried to test it on the highway but it doesn't have the power when you need it.

idk if its the CAT. that's clogged.
i wna drain and refill the Tran. fluid and get an oil change (synthetic) by this weekend, but if i can't resolve this acceleration issue, then idk if i wna drop more $ on it.

 

It could be the cat, as well as a variety of other things. No CEL?

How is your gas mileage?

 

gas mileage is great. what do you mean by CEL? i'm sorry but i'm fairly new and still getting used to some of the acromyns used.

 

Check Engine Light

 

no the check engine light does not come on.

 

When this^ happens, do the engine rpms rise when you push the throttle pedal but the the car doesn't move much?

 

yes the rpms rise, but the car doesn't accelerate at all, if i wasnt already in motion i wouldn't go nowhere. i have to take my foot off the gas and slowly increase my speed in order for it to shift into 5th or sometimes even 4th!

 

Sounds like the transmission is toast, but first try 3 drain-and-refill cycles with Honda ATF.

and what does that lucas transmission fix do?? will that help? or hurt?
