Shift Knob is stuck!
Ok so i ordered a really cool shift **** that has a red H on it. But i can not get my OEM shift **** off. I tried turning it left as hard as i can. it seems to be stuck. anyway to get this thing off without hurting anything? thanks in advance. Btw. my car is a 99 civic coupe. 5-speed.
You work in a factory, and don't know what channel locks are? You work in a factory, and don't know about basic hand tools...

The rag is so the teeth on the channel locks don't **** your OEM shift **** to hell and back.

I'm a quality inspector for a steel company that makes bmw parts. mostly E71. I pack the parts also. So i didnt know what it was. Big deal. i asumed it was something to take it off with. But didnt know exactly what it looked it. No need to flame on new users just because you have 4k post.

No, I couldn't have. A wrench is not a channel lock.
Box wrench.

Pipe wrench.

Channel Lock pliers.

Channel lock pliers are also called slip joint pliers. Pliers use a pivot point near the teeth to allow for the grabbing of different sizes and shapes of objects. Wrenches do not, and are generally confined to specific shapes. Now that I've given you a basic education of hand tools, feel free to actually go down to a real factory and do some work, instead of your QA assembly line. Also, my post count has nothing to do with any piece of this conversation, other than to point out that I'm one of the rare few people who actually try to help the stupid around here. Unless you want to compare it to my *****, in which case...stop staring at my *****.

Im pretty sure any of those would work with the right size. Are you seroiusly pressing F5 over and over waiting for me to replay at 4am? Clearly you have nothing better to do then get your posts up. ROFL

and I'm pretty sure you've never actually worked in a factory in your life. The factory shift **** is rounded, thus, a wrench will not work. If you want to go buy a 40-some odd mm box wrench to prove me wrong, by all means go ahead - I'll be sitting here laughing at you for wasting your time finding one, and your money buying it. Could you make a pipe wrench work? Yes, but that would be stupid, and would be the improper tool for the job. You truly are a whole new level of stupid.
That would work as well. I've never had luck getting good torque behind a strap wrench, though. That's why I generally recommend channel locks with a rag - toss the rag between what you're wrenching on and the tool, so the teeth don't cut into it.
Hacksaw the shifter, hey presto! Short shifter. Women will want to be with you, and other dudes will want to BE you. You'll be the hottest kid on the streets. It happened to me, trust me on this.
BAHAHAHAHA that's the funniest **** I have read in a long time. But if he saws off the ****, how is he gonna screw a new one on?
