Icon2 1994 EG Hatchback Auto to Manual Swap Specific Questions

Hey HT!

This is my first post. Before you all murder me for starting this thread I have to say that I actually searched this site, dseries.org, and all off google and still have had no luck. As of now, I am in the process of swapping a new engine. I have a '94 auto cx hatchy, i love it to death (literally) because the stock d15b7 crank pulley snapped clean off and left the bolt behind. I decided I wasn't going to keep that engine because it would be a giant paint trying to fix and went for a d16z6 with B000 trany (This all came out of an eg sedan) . I bought the engine from a guy I kinda know and he included everything i needed for the swap. complete swap with pedals, shift linkage, etc.

So yesterday I decided to start. I got my old engine out. I cleaned a bit. cleared out the entire cabin (heater core, dash... ) My pedals are now in. Clutch line is good. But when it comes to the throttle cable, I cannot figure out where to put it on the pedal. The new pedals i bought with the swap are a little different. I just wanted to know if these pedals will be okay, will i need a different cable? I will have photos soon.

Secondly, The shifter is giving me a headache. I don't know where I am supposed to bolt it in. I have the bolts and nuts, old auto shifter is out. Just giving me some trouble. Do i have to modify the chassis at all for this?

Thirdly, The wiring. I don't understand what to do. If you guys have any tips or tricks plz let me know.

I used these threads from this website. They were amazing. I'm planning on making a VERY detalied thread after i know i can do mine.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I will post pictures shortly

This was in the writeup you linked to. You might have missed it.
1-"You will also need the manual pedal assembly"
Do you have that? You didn't say.
2-How are you trying to install the shifter? You do have the linkage as well correct? You didn't say.
3-The wiring looked laid out pretty plainly to me. What part is tripping you up?

Someone, probably Ron, will be along with diagrams.

I have to correct pedals for manual (clutch, small brake, gas)... I found out that i can't use the AT throttle cable with the MT gas pedal. Is there anyway
around this?

I have the linkage. I just don't know where it bots onto the chassis. the holes don't line up. Do you know if this linkage that came out of an eg sedan will work?

Ill do better with a diagram if someone comes around with one. I guess i need to know if i need to actually run wires from the pedals or if something just plugs right in. a little confused about that.

Thanks for the help

Sorta, if you run the automatic gas pedal you can run the automatic cable. That said the right cable can be had for around $20 brand new right from Honda.

This should help, and yes the sedan linkage will fine.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

So I ended up swapping the A/T Gas Pedal with the M/T Gas Pedal so I would still have the correct brake pedal. Worked perfectly. I found that out on another website in my absence.

As for drilling the holes... I managed to fit the bolts in the two holes directly above where you told me to drill. Would this be okay? or will it compromise the tranny or chassis or linkage.

Hey again!

I have a boat load of questions for there gurus out there.

1) I decided to delete my heater core as well as a/c for a number of reasons (don't feel like explaining and I realize most will blast me for this but what's done is done.) I didn't really find exactly what i wanted to find online regarding this topic. So here you go. I did read somewhere months ago that you are just supposed to take the hose that goes from the engine to the heater core... and connect that where the hose that comes from the core to the engine normally goes. So, instead of going through the core, it skips the whole thing and goes right back into the engine. Is this correct?

As for the a/c, I figured you just take the lines and components out. Do any lines go to the engine? or is the a/c a separate system altogether? (with the exception of the belt turning the condenser or compressor or whatever it is.

2) The cylindrical object sort of underneath the fuel pressure regulator... no clue where any of those hoses go... (going for d15b7 to d16z6. so i need to change anything?)

3) Are the axles the same for all d series? auto and manual? the guy gave me some axles but there aren't good anymore.... can i use my old ones? (they are in better condition.)

4) Also. I "need" to delete my power steering because i accidentally f'ed up the lines and now they are no good. I have read several threads on this. I only need to know one thing. Is there anyway I can just close up all three holes or do i need to use a loop, or a loop w/ breather. (i don't have the money for the manual rack right now so yeah....)

5) How will I know if my wiring harness is pre-wired for vtec? I know that my car is a 94 according to the vins. And i also know it is a cx... cx doesn't have p/s or a/c and mine came with it when i purchased it from the original seller. He also said the engine was rebuilt. No papers.... that's why it died... anyway... i only ask because when i look at the wires underneath the hood, i noticed that on the driver side (near the clutch master cylinder)... there are 3 plugs coming from the back of the car and 2 from the engine... the 3rd is plugged up with a cap. (ps... these are like multipin connector plug things. there are also 3 on the passenger side that are all occupied. I know how to wire it but if you have a nice diagram it would be greatly appreciated.

!!! if there are threads up for any of these questions can you please let me know. Also, sorry if i asked questions that are already answered. I did search but wasn't very successful.

Oh, and thanks to all those who dedicated their time to help me out. You're all awesome.

Can someone rename the tread?
I was thinking "d15b7 auto to d16z6 manual specific questions" or something of the sort.

Thanks
