I just got my car not too long ago and im trying to fix little issues. When i drive it, the speedometer does not work at all. Then a few minutes later, it starts working. ive seen other threads and they say that it gets stuck at 20mph or jumps around. i dont have that problem. it just works when it wants to. When it works and then i come to a complete stop and start moving again, it wont work and sometimes it will. I dont want to get a speeding ticket. any suggestions or anyone with similar issues?

 

Speed sensor is probably shot. Here is a good diagram to troubleshoot one.

Vss sensor. Pick one up from the JY.

 

If you have cruise control a quick way to diagnose is to try to get cruise control to work. If it does, the problem is normally with the cluster or somehow an open in the wiring. If cruise control doesn't work normally it's the speed sensor itself.

 

Is this diagram for accords too?

 

Thank you guys though. The cruise control does not work so i believe it is the speed sensor.
